1. The EU signs agreement with Djibouti to keep the Red Sea open

The European Union and Djibouti have signed a Status of Forces Agreement to govern the EU’s ASPIDES and ATALANTA naval missions, locking in port access, fuel and logistics for the ships patrolling the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas signed the pact during a visit that also took her to Addis Ababa for talks with Ethiopian leaders.
